Facebook-owned messaging app WhatsApp has started posting Status messages to users about its “commitment to your privacy.”
WhatsApp has been facing backlash for its upcoming privacy policy. The instant-messaging platform has been using its Status feature to calm down fears in India for some time now. But in countries like US and UK, the messaging platform has gone a step further by sending “commitment to your privacy" message to the users.
The in-app messages started appearing for users in the US and UK on Saturday in Status which is WhatsApp`s version of Snapchat Stories or Twitter Fleets.
Major update in the privacy policy of WhatsApp:
WhatsApp reports that the status given by the official organization is to curb the misinformation.
The company wants people to understand, how it helps in securing information as many people are trying to spread fake and irrelevant news regarding the new update of the messaging application.
WhatsApp itself claims that there are many underlying facts and policies. These policies help in securing the data and information of the user.
Along with that, users can see the official status provided by WhatsApp in the status tab. The messages read "One thing that isn`t new is our commitment to your privacy," along with a reminder that "WhatsApp can`t read or listen to your personal conversations as they`re end-to-end encrypted," reports The Verge.
The personal message will neither get disclosed over WhatsApp nor on Facebook.
The reminders certainly focus on WhatsApp’s attempt to protect the user’s data. The company policies and their new updates will not ever intervene in the privacy of the users.
