If you have always thought traditional photos are just a bit on the boring side, Google will be changing this. You soon will not need to download a photo editing application to give your picture a 3D look.
On December 15th, Google revealed in a blog post that Google Photos would soon be able to take your 2D images and make them look as if they are 3D. Additionally, Google stated that the images will be seen in your recent highlights section above the photo grid. Along with this impressive feature, Google seems to be adding a new theme for memories and will group people along with activities such as sunsets, baking, and hiking.
Moreover, Google calls these types of images “Cinematic photos,” a new type of image the app can show as part of its Memories feature. Cinematic photos are normal pictures that have been given a 3D effect through the power of machine learning.
Here you can see the effect from a 2D image to a Cinematic photo, in a Google provided GIF.
According to Google, this new feature in Memories section will be rolling out to users over the next month.
Who doesn’t love to see their pictures in 3D effect? We all enjoy. We believe this new update will enhance the user’s experience of using Google photos more efficiently.
