TWITTER BEGINS ROLLING OUT AUDIO TWEETS FOR IOS

Good news for iPhone or iPad users, that wish just came true. Twitter recently announced on 17th June, 2020 about their new rollout “audio record feature” to iOS users.

Users can write a new tweet as they normally might, but now, along with options to attach a photo or video, there is a new button where users can record a quick audio message. Twitter shared the full workflow in a tweet from the company’s official account.

In 2017, the company announced it was expanding the limits on tweets from 140 to 280 characters. This new feature potentially allows for much longer thoughts to be shared as a tweet, limiting audio clips to 140 seconds per tweet. When the limit is reached, the app will still record and automatically break up the segments into threaded tweets.

Users will be able to see the audio tweets on their timeline in the same way that other tweets appear.

Twitter inserts an image with your account avatar as a visual and the audio appears like an embedded video with a start and pause option.

According to Twitter, the new audio tweet feature will only be available to some iOS users for now, though the company says all iOS users should have access “in the coming weeks.” No word on an Android or web rollout yet.
